Washington – November 5, 2024 – The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) today reported that global semiconductor sales totaled $166.0 billion for the third quarter of 2024, marking a 23.2% increase from the third quarter of 2023 and a 10.7% rise compared to the second quarter of 2024. Global sales for September 2024 reached $55.3 billion, up 4.1% from the $53.1 billion reported in August 2024. These monthly sales figures are compiled by the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organization and reflect a three-month moving average. SIA represents 99% of the U.S. semiconductor industry by revenue and nearly two-thirds of semiconductor firms outside the U.S.

"The global semiconductor market continued its growth trend in the third quarter of 2024, with quarterly sales increasing at the fastest rate since 2016," said SIA President and CEO John Neuffer. "September's sales reached the highest monthly total on record, driven by a 46.3% year-over-year increase in the Americas."

Regional Sales Performance
Regionally, September's year-over-year sales were up in the Americas (46.3%), China (22.9%), Asia Pacific/All Other (18.4%), and Japan (7.7%), but were down in Europe (-8.2%). Month-over-month sales in September increased in Japan (5.3%), Asia Pacific/All Other (4.5%), the Americas (4.1%), Europe (4.0%), and China (3.6%).
